For customers of our Position Management or Succession Planning module.

While all positions are important to an organization's success, setting an importance level for each position can help you visualize and plan for critical roles.

Utilizing the Importance Level Field to Improve Position Planning

Once you have set the importance level for your positions, you can use org visualization tools to color-code positions based on level of importance. You can also define which positions require a succession plan and visualize your planning efforts using the org chart and Succession Planning insights.

To set a position’s importance level on the org chart:

Note: Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can set a position's importance for any position. Limited Admins can adjust a position's importance for their subordinates and/or the subordinates of other specified positions.

  1. Navigate to a position on your official org chart.

  2. Hover over the position card to open the three-dot menu and click Edit Position.

Note: Customers of our Position Management module can also access the Edit Position window by navigating to the Positions Management page, clicking the Positions tab, then clicking the three-dot menu next to the appropriate position.

  3. In the Edit Position window, click the Position Importance dropdown located under the Position Info tab to select a level of importance (low, medium, or high).

  4. Click Save.
