You can initiate an export from a few places in Built, depending on whether you need to export a list of people or positions and what fields you want to include in your file.

Note: If you’ll be using your exported file to update information in Built, it’s important to understand how importing people-centric versus position-centric data impacts the changes you can make.

To export a list of your people:

Note: Only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can export a people list from the People page. To learn more, refer to: Understanding User Roles & Permissions.

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the People page.

  2. To export all people, click the Export List button at the top of the page.

To select specific individuals to export, use the checkboxes next to each person’s name, click the dropdown at the top of the list to select an action, then click Export to a file.

  3. Use the checkboxes to select the data you want to export.

  4. Click the Export button at the bottom of the page to download the file to your device.

To export a list of your positions:

  1. From the main menu, navigate to the Org Chart page.

    Notes about exporting positions:

•By default, only Company Admins, HR Admins, and HR Managers can export org chart data. A Company Admin or HR Admin can adjust your company’s org chart permissions, allowing people to export org chart positions and data they’re permitted to view.

•Customers of our Position Management module can also export a list of positions from the Positions table. To do this, navigate to the Position Management page and click the Positions tab. You can export all positions by clicking the Export button, or select specific positions using the checkboxes provided and then click the icon at the top of the list to export the selected rows.

  2. Click the Export icon in the upper right corner of the Org Chart page.

  3. When the Export window opens, select CSV format.

  4. Click the Export button to download the file to your device.

Note: The file will contain the following default columns and any enabled data fields: Position ID, External Position ID, Name, Employee ID, Work Email, Title, Is Primary, Reports To Position ID, Reports to External Position ID, Reports to Name, Reports To Employee ID, Reports to Work Email, and Reports To Title.
